Hand in Hand (also know locally as PCC), Nkoranza

Above is the little house I stayed in the week I was with Hand in Hand, with a nice porch and an open shower at the back. It is a lovely community with beautiful grounds complete with a small herd of donkeys - and their guesthouses are full this time of year with mostly English or Dutch tourists, as well as a bunch of volunteers who stay for up to 3 months. I travelled up from Accra on the Monday - it was nice to coincide with two people going the same direction: Bib, an Australian woman who lives in Nkoranza; and Steve, a friend of hers. Being on a bus for 5 hours, having waited 4hours to leave Accra, and then a further 3hours by tro-tro from Kumasi, made it a very long journey...a good opprtunity to get to know someone!
The restaurant is enclosed with lovely beaded curtains - made from recycled plastic.
On my last day there was a special Sports Day Event - here is the referee Paul, and Ima the line man.
Some of the people I met - below on the left is Dela, one of the residents of PCC, followed by Steve, the American who used to be the Occupational Therapist at Hand in Hand, and then Greetje and Arie, a Dutch couple who were back in Ghana with their son Lars and his girlfriend Wendy, after Greetje had been a volunteer here a couple years ago.
Mafia, another mentally handicapped young girl, pretending to be a business lady with my bag and phone
The mixed volleyball match - as with the football, it was the UCL medic volunteers otherwise known as the England team, versus the care-givers resident to PCC who represented Ghana.
Inside the weaving workshop with Bridget - I bought a head-band from the shop which she had woven in the same turquoise colour pictured below...
Dela and Steve in the bead workshop
They have 8 looms in the workshops, 7 floor looms and one table-top loom, all donated from Holland.
Paul in the Sewing workshop - making all kinds of things from printed textiles and batik cut-offs
